Solid Rock Pentecostal Church was founded in April 1988 by Senior Pastor Alonzo Terry and First Lady Kathy Terry. Over the course of years,
church meetings were held in homes, hotels, and schools. In 1995, we acquired a storefront property in College Park, GA in which significant
numerical and spiritual growth occurred. Once the shopping plaza began to max out, the church acquired 5 acres of land and built the current facility.
The first service was held December 31st, 1998. In January 2000, Pastor Terry launched Vision 2010 that set the course for the next 10 years of ministry.
At the midpoint, we continue to experience the blessings of the Lord as we look to obtain an additional 35 acres of land at the church site through our
Reaching the Next Generation Stewardship Campaign. This will allow us to build a new sanctuary and remodel our current facilities to a
student center as we continue to reach hurting and lost people who need Jesus Christ. With we have two campus locations, the South Campus located in
College Park, GA. The North Campus is located in Norcross, GA in which the attendees are primarily Spanish speaking.
Sr. Pastor Alonzo Terry serves on the General Board of the UPCI. He currently serves as Director of BEM (African-American Evangelism for North America), and church planning commission for North America. Pastor Terry is heavily involved in local and state community affairs, including National Day of Prayer for the Governor/First Lady for the state Georgia. He also served as a delegate to the White house in discussion of faith based initiatives. Sr. Pastor Terry is a gifted visionary leader with excellent leadership instincts whose passion is to equip and develop others to fulfill their purpose in the Kingdom of God.
Our church has a Pentecostal heritage with its beginning traced the New Testament book of Acts. The word Pentecost means fifty which was a time of celebration for completion of the grain harvest in Israel. The Day of Pentecost is connected to the outpouring of the gift of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2 and therefore is the day on which the New Testament church was born. God continues to pour out His Spirit to this present day. One of the more famous outpourings being the Azusa street revival that took place in Los Angeles, California in 1906.
The theme of our church is
“A Life Changing Ministry”
We believe the Bible is God's Word and that we should live in obedience to it. Below are a few scriptures regarding our faith and teachings.
1. Repentance from sin and self serving lifestyle
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;” (Acts 3:19)
2. Water baptism in Jesus Name
“And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” (Acts 22:16)
3. Holy Ghost infilling evidenced by speaking in an unknown tongue
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:4)
4. Oneness of God
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” (Deuteronomy 6:4 - 5)
5. Divine Healing
“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” (James 5:14 - 15)
6. Gifts of the Spirit
“Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.” (1 Cor. 12:4)
